Dear Student,
We the Globe English Centre, work in partnership
with Mitsuba Associates. We provide you with the most
effective, professional and caring learning experience whilst Mitsuba
Associates can advise and assist you in making your choice
the correct one.
I established the Globe English Centre in 1978 where I
still enjoy working as the present director. The Globe
occupies pleasant buildings and gardens on a quiet street in
the very centre of Exeter, within 5 minutes walk of the
Cathedral, shops and stations, 20 minutes by shuttle train
from the sea & beaches and 2h30 minutes from central
London.
We have acquired an excellent reputation for our quality
services and the very personal attention we give to each
individual student. You can enjoy our ample recreational
areas, free refreshments & free access to Internet and our
Study Centre.
Students particularly appreciate our small classes, good
mix of nationalities and the friendly, personal and
professional atmosphere of the Globe.
We offer a full range of courses in our Adult and Junior
Schools. The Adult courses are most popular because of the
small number of students per class (maximum of 6, average 4)
which ensures great individual attention and rapid progress.
We have a very high exam pass rate. You can start your course
on any Monday and at any level
I would also like to point out that we run a Junior School
all year round and can therefore guarantee a high standard of
tuition and accommodation and welcome at all times since we
have permanent premises and experienced regular staff.
I personally select our host families, because I know what
an important part they play in the success of your stay.
Families are within a maximum walking distance of 30 minutes
and always on a bus route. You will have your own heated room
with a writing table and be offered breakfast, packed lunch
and an evening meal.
The Globe also owns a number of self-catering flats on the
school premises. They can accommodate 1-5 people and are all
comfortably modernised and pleasantly furnished.
The historic City of Exeter, capital of Devon. offers, in
an exceptionally beautiful part of England, a gentle pace of
life. friendly people and vibrant commercial and cultural
activity with a beautiful Cathedral and an excellent
University. Exeter (Population 110 000) has been elected the
top city in England for its quality of life (lowest crime
rate, lowest pollution rate. and best cultural, recreational
and commercial facilities). Devon is traditionally the British
people's favourite holiday destination because of its mild
climate, splendid beaches, coastline and National Parks.
Whether you wish to improve your English for work or
studies, or whether you simply enjoy learning a language and
experiencing the culture and way of life of different people,
you will find at the Globe a programme that suits your needs.
