Isca School of English
Dear Student,
The Isca School of English works in partnership with Mitsuba
Associates. We provide you
with the most effective, professional and caring learning experience whilst
Mitsuba Associates can advise and assist you in making your choice the correct one.
Isca was founded by my parents in 1966, and my wife Jo and I have run it since 1979. Our
aim is to provide high quality English Language courses and to give you the personal
attention that only a school like Isca can provide. I live at the school with my family, and my
wife and I are readily available - at weekends too - to help you during your stay.
We have two large Georgian buildings and a modem classroom extension standing together in
their own large gardens in a quiet residential area just 10 minutes' walk from Exeter city
centre. Known as 'the city in the country' Exeter is surrounded by some of the most beautiful
countryside in England and is an ideal place to study English. In a recent national survey,
Exeter was voted the city with the best quality of life in Britain. It has a population of 100,000
and with over 10,000 university students, there is a vibrant student life in the city with much
to see and do. Exeter has many parks and gardens and is a very safe city to live in.
I have a team of enthusiastic professional teachers who use the latest modem teaching
methods and materials. There are between 40 and 70 students in the school at any one time -
small enough for us to know everyone, but large enough to provide excellent teaching and
facilities, and an active social programme within the school too.
One thing (among many!) that is special about this school is the
flexibility of our courses. As part of our General English courses and Cambridge exam courses, you can choose either our
Special Interest Programme or our Business English Programme for 4 hours per week. The
Special Interest Programme offers a choice of extra classes in language skills, literature and
some 'fun' activities too. The Business English Programme is very useful if you need English
for your future work.
We know how important the choice of host family is to your stay in England and my wife will
organise your accommodation for you. She visits and carefully selects host families who are
kind, friendly and welcoming.
Thousands of students from all over the world have joined our international family, and their
friends continue to do so. I hope that you too will come to study with us, and I look forward
to meeting you and introducing you to the school.
