English Language Centre, Bristol
Dear friends.
We would like to welcome you to ELC Bristol, a quality, caring school which was founded in 1969. The school is located 100 miles west of London and it is easy to get here by direct bus from Heathrow Airport.
There are around 180 students in the school and students come from over 30 different countries. We limit the number from any one country to 15% so that students have to speak in English all the time. We don't accept groups, part-time holiday-makers or children and we appeal to motivated individuals usually aged around 20 - 28 years old.
Bristol is a great destination for Japanese students - it is a lively university city, the largest city in the South of England after London. Famous for its vibrant music scene, it is the cultural centre of the West of England. It is easy to live here and there's a lot to do and see. Bristol is also a wealthy city with low unemployment and the school is located in the best area of town.
There are few foreigners in Bristol so it is easy of us to find caring families within walking distance of the school. Everything is quite close by, so it is not necessary to take public transport. You can walk to theatres, cinemas, parks, clubs, pubs and discos and to the University Students Union which is located 5 minutes' away. A special advantage for our students is that they are able to use the facilities of the University Students Union and also join the social clubs - this is the perfect way to make English friends.
I really believe that the Japanese students who come to ELC Bristol like our school. They
often tell me so and they also often extend their courses and stay with us for many months. They also tell their friends and that is the best recommendation any school can have.
